Carpets has become a necessity to many households in Kenya. Proper maintenance of the carpet lets you enjoy prolonged service before replacing it with something else. This is achieved best when professionally cleaned but DIY somehow helps keep dust off but not for long. Therefore, how do you clean carpets and especially fluffy rugs?

The best thing to do is to clean it regularly (Preferably weekly) using a Vacuum cleaner. To ensure you keep the appeal, clean it vertically (Width) and not along the length. Don’t forget to clean underside once or twice an year.

Treat all stains immediately using a commercial stain remover.

Steps to clean a carpet

1. Take it outside and beat off loose dirt and Vacuum clean both sides
2. Place it on a clean area, pavement or glass on a sunny, dry day.
3. Wet the rug
4. Mix water with a preferred detergent
5. Using a sponge mop apply the liquid bit by bit
6. Rinse the carpet thoroughly and roll on dry towels to absorb as much moisture as possible
7. Let the carpet dry in shade away from direct sunlight
